Today, instead of going to an actual school, you can very easily get a law degree sitting at home through an online law school to further your career or even practice law professionaly.

Getting a law school degree can really boost your career and increase your job prospects. In the state of California, you can even appear for the bar exam and practice law with a degree from an online law school. Their relatively lower cost, and flexibility makes them the perfect choice for busy professionals, housewives, or those simply looking to advance their career, or learn about how law works.

Of course, you need to meet certain requirements when getting a law degree online. You need to have completed your undergraduate education with good grades, have strong analytical, reasoning and communication skills. In the United States, the first school to offer a law degree online was the Concord School of Law. It is a unit of Kaplan, Inc., and was founded in the year 1998. Over the past decade, this school has pioneerd online law education and has attracted a number of students with its flexible but thorugh programs.

When picking an online law school, you must remember that not every school is accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). This means that you can practise law in only a select few states that allow for students fron unaccredited schools to sit for the bar exam. At present, only the state of California allows this. Once you’ve cleared the bar exam in California and have been practicing there for at least 5 years, you can appear for the bar exam in other states. So technically, you can practice law in any state with a degree from an online law school.

Most of the people who get a law degree online are looking to advance their career, or improve their job prospects. A law degree, even fron an online school, can look stellar on a resume and open up a lot of opportunities.
